A Family Trip to Bandung Zoological Park
On Sunday, March 2nd 2008, My Family and I had a chance to visit the Zoological Park in Bandung, Indonesia. This park is located on Jl.Tamansari near ITB, a prestigious University in Indonesia where Soekarno, the first President of Indonesia, obtained his undergraduate degree. We arrived there around 9.15. It was a good timing to visit the Park since most people would start flocking the place around 11 am. Our first stop is the crocodile home. I did not notice the name or where the crocodiles come from but they belong to the smaller kinds of crocodiles. Then, we move on to the elephant cage and feed the elephants with some peanuts we bought at the entrance gate. the elephants were quite big. I guess they stood up to 3.5 meters tall. Guests are only permitted to feed them peanuts. Our next stop was big cats cages. There we saw lions, white tigers, and Sumatran tigers. They all looked sleepy and we didn't hear any loud knee-trembling roars, only a few grunts. As we went on we saw a man holding a 2,5-meter python. I would usually skip the show and preferred watching the snakes behind the glass window, but this time I braved myself to touch and took some pictures with the long reptile. My youngest daughter didn't show any sign of fright towards the python unlike her older sisters who ran away and kept themselves quite a distance from us. After I called and persuaded them, finally they had the courage to sit beside me and Nadine, my youngest daughter. Next, we went on to where Nadine and Lois could take a camel ride. They really enjoyed the ride. Then we visited the oxen and the mommy camel and her child right across from the oxen field. Finally, we got into the animal museum. On our way to the gate, Nadine saw a train and wanted to take a ride on it. And finally we left.
